Weather in Oklahoma City

Four Seasons

Weather OKC Oklahoma is a state positioned just North of Texas. The weather in Oklahoma City is fairly mild compared to harsh winters in the Northern states and hot summers in the desert. The weather does change through four seasons in Oklahoma. Two to three months in the summer and two to three months in the winter can be relatively difficult. The summers are hot. So, a pool becomes really handy. The temperatures drop to below freezing predominantly at night during the winters. Any snow or ice on the ground will usually melt by the afternoon apart from a few days or an occasional week during a harsher winter. Ice storms can create a problem by breaking power supply lines.

Being part of tornado alley, Oklahoma is not a stranger to an occasional twister. Websites that deal with national weather do a good job on describing various events related to major tornados. Most locals will have a story about a tornado. In the majority of cases the story will describe blown out windows or a roof that needed to be replaced. Once in a while a person will describe major damage. As far as the really big tornadoes, some say that those are probably easier to deal with than the earthquakes. At least, there is a bit of a warning that people normally get. As one can imagine, Oklahoma attracts top notch meteorologists. The warning systems are well developed.
